COMPETITION DETAILS & TOP SCORER PRIZES
The goal in Sapphic Savvy is to accumulate as many points as possible in each weekly quarter and across the quarters comprising each month (i.e., set). You can earn points in each quarter by guessing and betting on the attitudes and behaviors of other users in your sexual identity and age-group and then reporting on your own attitudes and behaviors. At the end of each weekly quarter on Saturday (9am PST), the app crunches the numbers and users earn points based on the accuracy of their guesses about other users and the number of points they wagered. Each week, a virtual Visa gift card prepaid in the amount of $100 will be awarded to the user who scores the most points that quarter. In the event of a tie, the top scorer who placed their bets earliest during the quarter will be awarded the cash prize. Each month (after every 4 quarters): a prize taking the form of a $500 virtual Visa giftcard will be awarded to the user who scores the most points over 4 quarters. Smaller e-gift card prizes for 2nd and 3rd place runners up will also be awarded each set. You can visit the Standings section of the app to view leaderboards of the Top 100 scorers for the previous quarter and current set.
USE OF BASIC APP DATA FOR RESEARCH PURPOSES
Basic app data includes users’ public profile information, responses to quarter questions, scores, and other derivative data automatically logged by Sapphic Savvy’s servers including users’ device ID and operating system version, and number of: logins, quarters completed; results viewed, and visits to other areas of the app (e.g., Support Library, Synthesis Blog, and Live Chat) as well as any ratings of the app that users provide to the app store. The Sapphic Savvy team reserves the right to use this data, de-identified (profile photos, usernames, and phone numbers removed) and aggregated across users (all users lumped together so that we are analyzing group averages), for research purposes. Internal analysis of this data allows the Sapphic Savvy team to improve the user experience across different devices and operating systems, identify the competition’s hardest and easiest guess questions, determine the most interesting questions based on average number of results views, identify the characteristics of users most and least active in the app, as well as those liking the app the most and least. Analysis of this data also allows the Sapphic Savvy team to make improvements to the app and gauge the impact of app changes and updates overtime. All data analysis and reporting for these purposes will focus on highlighting group trends rather than individual responses. By accepting this terms of service and privacy policy below and creating a Sapphic Savvy user account, you are granting the Sapphic Savvy team the ability to use your de-identified basic app data as defined above, aggregated with that of other users, for such research purposes.
RISKS AND BENEFITS
The risks associated with Sapphic Savvy app use are minimal. However, there is a potential for you to experience uncomfortable feelings due to the personal nature of some of the in-quarter questions. Questions may ask, for example, how often you get drunk, or whether you scissor. You may choose to skip sensitive questions without penalty. However, the app can only provide points, scores, and results corresponding to the questions you personally answer. You may also experience discomfort upon viewing results. For example, it may be distressing to learn that other Sapphics your age are drinking much less than you and exercising much more than you. It may also be disappointing when your guesses about other users are incorrect and/or upsetting if you fail to obtain a top score. However, the experience of answering incorrectly or scoring poorly is no different than what may be experienced while playing other games. Another area of potential risk lies in the app’s live chat area. It is possible that sensitive topics (sexual behavior, relationships) may be discussed that could make you feel embarrassed. However, these discussions will be no different in nature than those in groups on mainstream social media apps popular among Sapphics (Reddit, Tiktok, Discord, Facebook). To remedy any such discomfort experienced, you may choose to ignore results, discontinue your participation in the competition, or stop visiting the discussion forum area of the app. You can also visit the settings menu in the app to delete your user account and uninstall the app. For some, participation in Sapphic Savvy may satisfy curiosities about Sapphic communities, increase feeling of belonging, or help to diminish harmful stereotypes. For others, learning about health and relationship behaviors of other Sapphics may benefit their own health behaviors and relationships. Others may simply find entertainment in the wagers, scoring, results, and virtual sapphic community and discussions supported by the app. The de-identified, aggregated, basic app data used for research purposes by the Sapphic Savvy team may also help shape future programming by the Sapphic psychologists who created the app, which in turn, may benefit your future well-being.
GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION & TERMINATION
Sapphic Savvy is designed for lesbian, bisexual, pansexual and queer-identified women and non-men living in the us. In effort to keep the game completely cis male and russian bot free, users may be disqualified from the competition and have their account terminated if they appear to clearly not be a sapphic residing in the us. Other grounds for disqualification and termination include being under 18 years of age, creating multiple accounts linked to different mobile numbers (in order to submit bets more than once each round), attempting to cheat by any other means, and making inappropriate or offensive posts in the chat. In the spirit of healthy competition, we ask that you keep the results you receive in the competition private. This means not sharing screenshots of any of the results you receive on social media or in private communication with friends until the competition ends. You may be disqualified if you violate this rule! Unless we tell you otherwise, upon any termination, (a) the rights granted to you in these terms will end; (b) you will be locked out of the app; (c) all of your account data will be deleted with the exception of your device ID. Your device ID will be used only to prevent you from creating new accounts in order to gain access to the app.
DATA USAGE
If you’re using the app outside of an area with Wi-Fi, you should remember that your terms of agreement with your mobile network provider will still apply. As a result, you may be charged by your mobile provider for the cost of data for the duration of the connection while accessing the app, or other third party charges. In using the app, you’re accepting responsibility for any such charges, including roaming data charges if you use the app outside of your home territory (i.e. region or country) without turning off data roaming. If you are not the bill payer for the device on which you’re using the app, please be aware that we assume that you have received permission from the bill payer for using the app.
